The journal EducA recognizes the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in academic research and scholarly communication. To ensure transparency, accountability, and research integrity, authors and reviewers must disclose any significant use of AI tools during the preparation, evaluation, or revision of manuscripts.

For Authors

Authors may use AI-assisted tools for purposes such as:

  • Language editing and proofreading;
  • Improving readability and style;
  • Translation of manuscripts or parts thereof;
  • Formatting assistance;
  • Summarization of non-scientific content.

However, AI tools must not be listed as authors, as they cannot assume responsibility for the content of a manuscript. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, validity, and integrity of all submitted work, including any content generated or modified with AI assistance.

Any substantial use of AI tools must be disclosed in a dedicated statement included in the manuscript (e.g., in the Acknowledgements section, before the References, or in another appropriate location). The statement should specify:

  • The name of the AI tool used;
  • The purpose for which it was used;
  • The extent of its contribution.

Example disclosure statement:

The authors used ChatGPT (OpenAI, GPT-5) to improve the English language and readability of this manuscript. All scientific content, interpretations, analyses, and conclusions were developed and verified exclusively by the authors, who assume full responsibility for the final text.

Authors must not use AI tools to fabricate data, references, results, or research findings.

For Reviewers

Reviewers may use AI-assisted tools to support language revision, summarization, or organizational aspects of the review process. However, reviewers must exercise caution and ensure that any use of AI does not compromise confidentiality, impartiality, or the integrity of the peer-review process.

Reviewers remain fully responsible for the content, recommendations, and judgments contained in their review reports.

If AI tools are used during the review process, reviewers must disclose this use to the editors, indicating:

  • The name of the AI tool used;
  • The purpose of its use;
  • Whether any manuscript content was uploaded or processed by the tool.

Example disclosure statement:

During the preparation of this review, the reviewer used ChatGPT (OpenAI, GPT-5) to assist with language editing and organization of comments. The reviewer retained full responsibility for the evaluation, recommendations, and conclusions expressed in the review report.

Reviewers should not upload confidential manuscript content to AI systems unless such use complies with applicable privacy, confidentiality, and data protection requirements.

Editorial Oversight

The editorial team reserves the right to request additional information regarding the use of AI tools and to determine whether such use complies with the journal's ethical standards and publication policies. Failure to disclose significant AI use may constitute grounds for editorial action, including manuscript rejection or post-publication correction.

This policy may be updated periodically to reflect developments in AI technologies and evolving best practices in scholarly publishing.
