EducA, International Journal of Catholic Education, invites scholars, researchers, and academic institutions to submit articles for a special issue dedicated to show the most significant international advances in Catholic education. This edition seeks to highlight relevant, innovative, and transformative research that reflects the richness and diversity of Catholic education in today’s world.

In a global context marked by uncertainty, social fragmentation, and ecological challenges, Pope Francis has issued a firm call to renew our commitment to education as a driver of human and social transformation. In his proposal for the Global Compact on Education, he urges us to “place the human person at the centre, investing creatively and responsibly in long-term projects that train individuals willing to offer themselves in service to the community” (Message of His Holiness Pope Francis for the Launch of the Global Compact on Education, 12 September 2019).

Pope Francis further reminds us in Laudato Si’ that “there can be no renewal of our relationship with nature without a renewal of humanity itself” (Laudato Si’, 118), and affirms in Fratelli Tutti that “education bears within itself a seed of hope: the hope of a more fraternal society” (Fratelli Tutti, 215). These exhortations underline the urgency of building an education grounded in integral ecology, dialogue, and solidarity.

In the same spirit, Pope Leo XIV in his first words following his election echoed these values by calling the Church to “build bridges through dialogue and encounter, to be one people, to be at peace.” (Address at the Loggia of St Peter’s Basilica, 2025).

EducA welcomes original, unpublished articles in English, Spanish, French, Italian or Portuguese that focus on the most important aspects of, among others, the following subtopics:

  • Inclusion, equity, and social justice from a Catholic perspective.
  • Centrality of the person in Catholic educational institutions.
  • Education and integral ecology.
  • Formation in global citizenship, interreligious dialogue, and synodality.
  • Holistic/Integral Education at the service of society.
